Honglong Scenic Area is the only well-preserved highland wetland, which is the home to some endangered animals including giant panda and was listed as a World Natural Heritage.

Huanglong Scenic Area, in Jiuzhai Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Songpan County Sichuan Province, covers an area of 700 square kilometers, composing of two parts Huanglong and Muni Valley. It is a place with a strange landscape, rich of resources, a pristine ecology, an important scientific and aesthetic value. Concentrated the multi-class landscape in one place, Honglong Scenic Area is not only a valuable wealth of the Chinese people, but also a wealth of human being.

Huanglong and Muni Valley are two main areas in Huanglong Scenic Area. The important three parts of Huanglong are Huanglong Valley, Danyun Gap and Xuebaoding.

Huanglong Valley

Huanglong Valley, 7.5kilometers long and 1.5kilometers wide, is a gentle slope valley. Covered with milk yellow rock, Honglong Valley looks like a meandering yellow dragon in jungle valley so that Huanglong Valley’s name comes from this. It is renowned at home and abroad because of its odd, elegance and serene.

Stepping into Huanglong Valley, the first thing you can see is a group of sophisticated, bright pools, Welcome Pool. The sizes of the pools are different. They have odd shapes with colorful butterflies fluttering. After the Welcome Pool, along the tortuous path, you can see a waterfall named Feipuliuhui which reflects different colors and looks like pink clouds falling from the sky.

Honglong Temple about 3.5 kilometers away from mizoguchi can let tourists rest. Now, a man’s real statue named Huang Long who made great contribution to helping Yu control flood has been built in the temple.

Xuebaoding

Xuebao Peak is 5,588 meters above sea level. It is crystal, tall and straight, even if the Five Sacred Mountains (known as the father of thousands of mountains) have to admire it. Rare medicinal herbs such as rhubarb, snow lotus grows here. Besides, it is some precious animals’ habitats and breeding places. In the west, north, south pars of the Xuebaoding Mountain are high cliffs, which make the climbers be nonplussed over climbing. Although the west eastern surface slope of the mountain is slow, this situation still is a challenge for visitors.

Mounigou Valley

It combines the beauty of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong Valley, but is more primitive. What’s more, because of no winter icing, it’s easy for you to travel around it.

In the primeval forest of Mounigou Valley Scenic Area, a huge flow of water falls down from the 104-meter-high stepped travertine rock. It is the largest travertine waterfall - Zhaga Fall. Zhaga Fall is located in an altitude of 3,270 meters. It is 93.2 meters high and 35 meters wide itself.

Pearl Lake’s water temperature is high about 25? (77°F), even though it is a snow frozen winter weather. A strong smell of sulfur filling the poolside, it is said that people in the shower can heal skin disease.
