Li River
Located in northeastern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Li River originates from Mao’ershan in Ziyuan County of Guilin, flowing southward and passing Guilin and Yangshuo etc. It is 426 kilometers long in total.
With crystal clear water and eye-catching sceneries on both sides, every scene of the Li River is a typical Chinese ink painting and Guilin to Yangshuo part is the best and most visited, which is around 63 kilometers long. In addition, Lijiang is also famous for its ‘Four Wonders’, including beautiful mountains, clear water, peculiar caves and charming stones. It is the largest and most beautiful karst landscape tourist area in the world.
Reed Flute Cave
Reed Flute Cave is located in northwest of Guilin. It is said that there are reeds growing around the cave’s entrance which can be used to make reed flutes, hence the name.
Reed Flute Cave is 240 meters long, with a widest-point of 93 meters and a highest-point of 1.8 meters. It is honored as ‘the Art Palace of Nature’. Within the cave, there are lots of peculiar stalagmites, stalactites, stalagnates and so on. Besides, Reed Flute Cave also boasts over 77 mural paintings of past dynasties from 792. They were all painted by traditional Chinese writing brush, but still can be recognized after over 1,000 years.
Elephant Trunk Hill
As early as more than 1,000 years ago, Elephant Trunk Hill area had been a famous place of sightseeing. It is named after it is so much like an elephant drinking water from Li River. It has been the representative of Guilin landscapes, and the symbol of Guilin. Guilin’s city badge is right it.
Fubo Hill
Fubo Hill is located in the northeast central Guilin city centre, along the west bank of Li River. During every wet season of Li River, the water is obstructed by the hill body as long as flowing here, and form a huge back flow, hence the name.
Fubo Hill towers aloft alone, with one part on land and the other part inserting into the water. It is not so high, with a height of 213 meters above the sea level. There are also some other small scenes here.
Crown Cave
Crown Cave is located in Caoping Village in Yanshan District of Guilin, which is 29 kilometers southern Guilin downtown. With an overall length of 12 kilometers, it is a huge underground river karst cave.
Crown Cave is very much like the gold crown of emperors, hence this name. It is mainly consisted of the underground drought river and drought cave two parts now. Tourists can visit here by Bamboo rafting.
Diecai Hill
Also be known as Fengdong Hill (with a hole causing wind in all four seasons), the Diecai Hill is located in the north of Guilin city centre. These hill-stones are in layers of cross-section with peculiar shapes, which is so much like layers of piled silk flosses, hence today’s name.
Diecai Hill is composed of Siwangshan, Yuyueshan, Xianheshan and Mingyuefeng. Since ancient times, it is honored as ‘the confluence of beautiful sceneries’. Here, tourists can find layer upon layer of peaks, flourishing plants, as well as some other sightseeing places both on Diecai Hill’s top and its foot. What’s more, within the hole we mentioned above (the one causing wind in all four seasons), there are poetry inscriptions by successive poets in past dynasties, and some Buddhist bas-reliefs on precipices, about 80 ones.
Dragon Back Rice Terrace
Dragon Back Rice Terrace is considered to be the No.1 among all terraced field areas in China. It is divided into mainly two parts: Ping’an Zhuang Terraced Field spot and Jinkeng Hong Yao group Terraced Field spot. Zhuang and Hong Yao are two ethnic groups of China, while Ping’an and Jinkeng are two villages of Yangshuo, which are both famous for terraced fields.
Dragon Back Rice Terrace is very large in scale, from the foot of mountains to tops. These large ones are so much like towers while small ones are snails. Among the mountains, the rivers flow rapidly. On the top of mountain, the white clouds are dancing, together with dense forests.
West Street
Yangshuo West Street is a pedestrian street in Yangshuo County of Guilin. It is located in the middle Yangshuo County, slightly westeast-ward, running to Binjiang Lu in east, and Pantao Lu in west.
West Street is an ancient street paved with slabstones with a history of one thousand years. However, it is filled with exoticism. Because of a lot of foreigners gathering here, it got a nickname-Foreigner Street. Although only hundreds meters long, this street gathers nearly hundreds of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants etc. of all sizes. On one hand, West Street has a full bodied ethnic feature, including traditional Chinese folklore, such as batik, seal and calligraphy etc. On the other hand, West Street presents a strong flavour of western life, such as bars, and Western Restaurants.
