Best Time to Visit Guilin
Located in the low latitude area, Guilin is characterized by sub-tropical humid monsoon climate, with four mild seasons attached with abundant rainfall and sunshine. The annual average temperature is about 19°C (66.2°F), endowing Guilin one of the top cities suitable for visiting in all seasons. July is the hottest with an average temperature of 28.3°C (82.9°F) and January is the coolest with an average temperature of 7.9°C (46°F). As saying goes that “Scarcely snowing in winter, perennially flowers blossoming”, snow is rare in winter, so it won’t be too cold to wear too much clothes and flowers are in full bloom at any season.
Spring (March-May)
Enjoying pleasant weather with sufficient sunny days and plentiful rainfall, Guilin in spring is a sea of flowers. All sorts of flowers are blossoming around the mountains on both sides of Li River, including Cole Flowers, Rhododendrons, Peach Blossoms, Yulan Magnolias, Cherry Blossoms, Daisies, Camellias etc. In additional to the flourishing flowers, the terraced field filled with water in the countryside is amazing scene in spring, altering the vast mountain area into a dream-like world beneath the mist-shrouded background. In the early spring, it is necessary to take a thick coat because the temperature is still low. The average temperature of March is 10°C (50°F). The whole spring is accompanied by rain, which makes Guilin more enchanting and fresh as if a painting.

Summer (June-August)
Summer in Guilin is hot and humid, with the peak temperature from 36°C (96.8°F) to 38°C (100.4°F). All the scenes in Guilin become precisely. The bluest sky, the greenest hills and the clearest rivers of Guilin at this period offers an illusion that you are touring in a picture. It is the best time for Boating, Bamboo Rafting, Kayaking, Drifting in the picturesque Li River and its tributaries. On sunny days, taking a cruise along Li River is a good choice, and you will see the verdant hills are shiny like jade hairpins with clear reflections in the mirror-like Li River. Rainbows are available to see in Guilin for it rains a lot but all in short time. Many caves are very cool, attracting growing number of tourist to beat the heat.

Autumn (September- November)
Guilin in autumn is dry with cool and fine weather with average temperature of 20°C (68°F) and the whole city is enveloped in the fragrance of Sweet Osmanthus Flowers, the city flower of Guilin. It is a rather comfortable season with clear skies and colorful scenery, particularly in the mountain villages outside the city. The rice paddies turn golden, then you can have a panoramic view of the magnificent terrace fields which have extended to the end of the horizon when you stand on the summits of Longsheng. As a season of harvest, you may see farmers busy in the terraced rice field in late autumn. After the harvest, Xingu Festival is celebrated among the local people in villages. Visitors can experience the authentic life of Yao and Zhuang minorities by visiting the traditional houses and enjoy the local food. Some ancient farming and fishing villages are really attractive for hikers to discover their unique culture and traditions. Thus, autumn is the best season to visit Guilin.

Winter (December-next February)
Winter in Guilin is cold and moist, with the average temperature of 2°C (35.6°F), but it is still very pleasant in sunny days. Mountains sit at both shores of Li River are still green and the Li River is unfrozen. Humid weather turns Guilin into a mist-shrouded fairyland again. The most attractive attraction is the hot spring in Longsheng County that it has been a must-go destination in Guilin winter tours. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Longsheng. Winter is the low season so Guilin is less crowded and it is cheaper to travel. Besides, Yangshuo is always kept as a hot destination for foreign tourists.
