Wan Chai

As a a metropolitan area located at the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong, Wan Chai is an unique community compromises the traditional and modern essence.

Wan Chai was tiny village before and still a resting living area in 1950s. As time went by, Wan Chai becomes a prosperous commercial-residential area gradually. It is the main channel connecting Hong Kong and Kowloon and the important transportation hub of the east and west of the Hong Kong Island. With an area of 976 hectares, Wan Chai has a population of about 170,000. But the people here to shopping, work, and enjoy the facilities are as many as 600,000. Thousands of tourists and local people come here to experience the vitality and the change of the city everyday.

Attractions

Wan Chai North features office towers, parks, hotels and an international conference and exhibition center, Central Plaza and Time Square. It is also preserved the unique historical buildings and historic interests, including the Hong Kong's oldest post office, Wan Chai old post office, which has been listed as a legal interest, and a temple witnessed the development of the sea for centuries. In addition, Lijie Garden, located in Lijie Street, reveals a classical flavor and artistic feeling with its characteristic building.

Tai Yuan street

It is a paradise of the toy enthusiasts. The whole street is full of rows of toy shop, selling all kinds of toys including the out of print, the memorial classics, and the latest edition toys. The price is much cheaper than the department stores here.

Bauhinia Square

Located at the waterfront of the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Center, Bauhinia Square has a monument that commemorates the British rule of Hong Kong for over 150 years. It is Hong Kong’s emblem. Every morning at 7:50am, the national flag hoisting ceremony is held here.

Wan Chai Computer Center

It is a paradise for computer buyers. With two floors of computer and consumer electronics stores, the Computer Center sell all the computer products ranging from software, hardware, books, gadgets, etc.

Specialty

Camellia

They are shrubs and can grow to 10 meters. When flowering, the camellia has a diameter of two inches. Although it was not so rich as the camellia in Yunnan, it is a kind of wild flower that deserves a full view. Camellia flowers from November to March.

Butterfly

Butterfly is one of the specialties in Hong Kong. With 142 kinds of butterflies, it is an ideal place to observe and collect butterfly specimens and have picnics.
