Zhua Fan (Rice Eaten with Hands)

"Uyghur  Rice"  actually  means  "grabbed  rice"  because  you  can  eat  it  with  your  hands.  The  main  ingredients  are  rice  cooked  in  mutton  broth  with  spring  onions,  carrots  and  a  piece  of  mutton  (or  beef,  chicken  or  duck)  placed  on  top  of  the  rice.  Sometimes,  raisins  or  almonds  are  also  added  for  extra  flavor.  This  dish  is  actually  quite  rich,  but  its  richness  gives  it  an  undeniably  delicious  flavor.

[ A close look at Zhua Fan ]
Zhua Fan is very nutricious. It is a must-eat dish in Uygur culture at get-togethers and festivals.

[ This is how you eat it, with your hand ]
"Zhua" means "grab" in Chinese. "Zhua Fan" is to grab the rice with your bear hand and eat it. You might not be used to it at first, but after a couple of bites, you will find it fun.
