Reputed as the inheritance base of Dongba culture, Jade Water Village has retained the authentic simplicity of Naxi nationality. It is the joint of Naxi ethnic culture with the natural landscape.

Perched at the foot of the magnificent Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Jade Water Village is about 12 kilometers away from the Lijiang Old Town. It is home to the Naxi people. As one of the main source of rivers in Lijiang Old Town, Jade Water Village achieves a high position for it is the sacred origin of Dongba culture and the inheritance base of Baisha fine music and Leba Dance.

Each March 5 in lunar calendar, the Dongba of the whole Naxi will gather in the Jade Water Village, holding the annual Dongba Shiluo Meeting.

National features

Jade Water Village has many unique landscapes mingled with rich national and local characteristics, such as the waterfall group, ancient trees, sacred spring, Dongba wall galleries, traditional sacrifice field, traditional Naxi water wheel and alpine meadows.

Natural landscape

The entire village is surrounded by lush green trees. There are two old trees towering from the cliff in the north of the village which have been listed into the Yunnan ancient millennium trees directory. It is fabulous the two trees form a forest. Under the tree is a flow of spring spouted out by 0.5 cubic meters per second. It flows to the south, filled with jade pools one after one. At last, the folding waterfall group forms.
