As the biggest international trade market in the northwest region of China, the Kashgar Bazaar is the biggest because it has the most abundant goods, the lowest prices, and the most buyers.

Covering an area of about 86,666.67 square meters, Kashgar Bazaar is unique type of trade found in Xinjiang with a history of more than 2,000 years. As the biggest market in Central Asia, Kashgar Bazaar at present has preserved the old traditions. On the streets one can find markets selling various commodities, such as vegetables, fruits, food, garments, tools and handcrafts.

History

Bazaar is a word from the language of Uygur, which means the place of market and trade. Bazaar was only held on Sundays in the past. But nowadays, there exist two parts. One is the area of livestock which is only held on Sundays, the other is the ordinary district which is busy on Sundays though it is open every day. Kashgar is a famous historical and cultural city that is a Silk Road trade centre. In the past, no matter which roads they passed, Kashgar Bazaar was the place they should gather.
