Dawakun Desert

Dawakun Desert is located at the rim of Taklamakan Desert and about 110 kilometers away from Kashgar City. Besides lake water, desert, the newly-built villas of European style, houses and parks with Uygur nationality feature are nestled on the banks of those lakes.

Something about Kashgar

Kashgar is in the western-most part of China, which played the role of the western junction of the southern and northern sections of the Silk Road within China, and the traffic hub and gate for China's economic and cultural exchanges with Western countries as early as 2,100 years ago.

As one of the oldest and wealthiest oases in the western Tarim Basin, in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Kashgar has long been the most important tourist destination in southern Xinjiang. In local language it means "jade-like place," from which you may easily imagine the beauty of this city. Kashgar has unique natural scenery and numerous sites of human interest. And Dawakun Desert is one of them.

What about the weather here

Kashgar has a temperate continental climate, with large periods of sunshine and little rainfall. With a short warm winter and a long cool summer, temperatures in the city are pleasant most of the year. The four seasons here are very clear. The best time to travel is between August and September, when the sky is blue and there is blossom and fruit on the trees.
