Lake Karakuli is the world’s rare plateau lake. The lake is popular among tourist for its picturesque scenery and the clear water reflecting the mountains.

Lake Karakuli is located at the foot of the Muztagh Hill. 191 kilometers away from Kashgar, Lake Karakuli is 3600 meters above the sea level, 30 meters deep and covers a total area of 10 square kilometers. The scenery is very charming because of the reflection of the mysterious ATA in the water and white gleam of snow. This lake is surrounded by mountains. Near the lake, the grass is very lush.

For thousands of years, Lake Karakuli quietly lies under the hill, looking like a charming girl leaning close to the hero’s arm. It is a set of primitive scene clean and bright. When it rains, the lake looks like roaring. Local people say that Lake Karakuli is a dressing mirror for the two large peaks. The camels, horses, yurts reflect in the water clearly, telling the story of the Pamir. In the evening, the beautiful girl and the boy are about to ignite the bonfire to sing and dance with the visitors.

Lake Karakuli is a rare world’s plateau and is not very large. In sunny day, the pure silver peak, green grass and the herd reflect in the lake, which is very beautiful and harmonious. In summer and fall, here is a stronghold of the mountaineering tourists. The yurts and board rooms are provided near the lake for visitors to have a rest. Small rubber boats for people can swing freely in the middle of the lake, enjoying the great view of Pamir plateau. Before the sunrise, Lake Karakuli is suffused with bluish light. With the sun rising, the Musitage Peak’s color changes with the time passing by. Fortunately, Lake Karakuli’s surface is as smooth as a mirror.
