Snail Hill, a stratified rock spirals up from the bottom to the top which resembles a huge snail hunting for food above the charming Li River.

Located at the west bank of Li River, about one kilometer from the Xingping Town and 64 kilometers from Guilin, Snail Hill is one of the most renowned hills along the Li River. With the elevation of 3,568 meters, it is covered with green plants. Wherever the angle is from, the whole hill appears like a snail. Legend has it that this hill is turned from the fairy named Miss Snail.

What to see

At the foot of the Snail Hill locates the Snail Cave where scatters with various stalactites in shapes of animals, fruits and flowers. Not far from the cave perches a small temple, which attracts many worshipers. It is the guardian of the Snail Cave.

Snail Cave

Known as typical karst landform and results from rock that has been chemically eroded away by slightly acidic water running through cracks in the underlying limestone bedrock, the Snail Cave is specialized in different shapes of stalactites. It has two parts, the bigger one in the east and the smaller one in the west.

There are three snail stones hanging upside down the ceiling of the Snail Cave. One is as white as snow, one is as dark as black lacquer and the other is as green as emerald. Visitors may wonder whether these stones are the babies of the Miss Snail.
