An illuminated crystal-ball is carried by five hands of different colors in the center of Youhao Square, symbolizing the solidarity of people from five continents of the world.

In Chinese, Youhao means “Friendship”. Used to be called West Square, it was renamed to Youhao Square in order to commemorate the friendship of China and the former Soviet Union in 1950s. Located at the junction area of the most prosperous commercial street and the busiest center business district in Dalian, it neighbors Zhongshan Square to the east, Shengli Square to the west, Tianjing Commercial Street to the north. In the north part of the square, there is a building with European church style, which enhances the elegance and peace to the modern square.

In the center of Youhao Square, an illuminated crystal-ball is carried by five hands of different colors. The crystal-ball takes a weight of 117 tons and a diameter 15 meters. The five hands symbolize people from five continents of the world and the Chinese Five Colors Earth. So it means that holding China needs the strength of all Chinese people and protecting the world needs the solidarity of people from all over the world.
