Xinghai Park

Located at the middle section of Xinghai Bay, southern of Dalian, Xinghai Park is a coastal park combining land park and beach resort. Xinghai (Sea of Star) Bay was named after a huge grotesque stone in the sea, which was regarded as the star stone from the far heaven. Occupying an area of 190,000 square meters, the park is a large-scale comprehensive seashore park having several functions of sightseeing the sea, avoiding summer heat and sea bathing.

Legend

There is a legend tells you the origin of the name “Xinghai”. Long times ago, there was a small village called Haishan Village and people lived on fishing. The sea area was taken by snakehead and Red Snapper, which also lived a peaceful and harmonious life. One day, a fierce blue shark wanted to usurp the graceful sea and hurt villagers. The snakehead and Red Snapper conducted a desperate struggle with the shark to protect the sea. What they had done moved the God of Star, so he used his magic to cast some star stones to the sharks. One huge one pressed the shark into the sea with half part erected on the sea. Because the star stone brought peace to the sea, so the bay was called Xinghai Bay.

Layout

Xinghai Park, the largest seashore park in Dalian, is composed of two parts: a 0.15 million-square-meter coastal garden and an 800-meter-long bow-shaped man-made bathing beach.
The park can be divided into four function districts, namely sightseeing district, resting area, recreation area and bathing beach. Xinghai Park has luxuriant trees and flowers on the landward side while the coastal side comprises a beach of golden sands.

Sun Asia Ocean World

Located in the premises of the Xinghai Park, Sun Asia Ocean World provides visitors an amazing and magnificent world of bizarre sea creatures. The museum is divided into two storeys. The first floor has exhibitions of colorful tropical fish, also covers western-style restaurant and souvenir shop. The second storey is a 118 meters underwater tunnel, providing visitors an opportunity to see 7,000 worldwide rare aquatic animals of above 200 species. Walking through the underwater tunnel and surrounded by thousands of marine creatures, you will enter a mysterious world beneath the sea.
