Wenfeng Park

Wenfeng Park is situated in Duyun City, 148 kilometers from Guiyang city. It is the first open park in Guizhou built in 1999, and it is also a biggest entertainment and leisure place all free in Duyun City. Wenfeng Tower in the park is reputed as “the First Tower in Guizhou”. Wenfeng Park gained the name because of this tower.

Wenfeng Park has a traditional park style. Wenfeng Tower is the main building in the park and merges in harmony with other artificial scenic spots. Wenfeng Park has west and north gates. There is a huge stone with the weight of 50 tons in west gate, which is from Luosike Mountain, west of Duyun city. On the stone is carved characters of “Wenfeng Park”. There are other scenic spots like Longevity Pavilion, Xianghe Gate with an ethnic feature, open-air square with imitated ancient roman style, and dove garden and so on. The park has a green coverage of above 80%.

Wenfeng Tower

It was thought that there were mountains in three directions around the Duyun city, but the south was a big gap, so built the Wenfeng Tower.

Wenfeng Tower was a wooden tower in five layers originally built in the reign of the emperor of Wanli (1573- 1620 A.D.), and it was called as “Wenbi Tower”. The tower collapsed in wartime, and it was rebuilt on the basis of remaining base in 1839, and the name was changed as Wenfeng Tower. Now it is a stone tower in seven layers, 33 meters high, and has a square bluestone base. It is surrounded by decades of miles of greenbelt. It is the only stone tower to be recorded in the book of “China Ancient Tower”. Wenfeng Tower has experienced many times of wars, but it still stands in the Duyun City. It has witnessed hundred years of vicissitude of Duyun City.
