Huaxi Scenic Area is praised as “the Pearl of Plateau”, and it is rich of cultural landscapes such as historical relics, ethnic customs, and residential buildings.
With an area of 220 square kilometers, Huaxi Scenic Area is a famed natural scenic area in Guizhou province, and located in the south of Guiyang, only 7 km from Guiyang city. It has a pleasant climate, and there is no cold winter and no hot summer. Here are undulating hills and towering ancient trees, and 3000-meter-long riverbed flat like whetstone in the scenic area which was formed by volcanic eruptions 100 million years ago. It is praised as “the Pearl of Plateau”.
Apart from charming scene, Huaxi Scenic Area is rich of cultural landscapes such as historical relics, ethnic customs, residential buildings etc.
There are three main scenic areas in Huaxi Scenic Area. The first is the Huaxi River as the mainline, along the 20-kilometer-long river beach, there are Tianhetan Scenic Area and Shilihetan Scenic Area here; the second part is cultural landscapes in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1636-1911), mainly to Qingyan Ancient Town; the third part is a mixture of natural scenery and ethnic customs of Gaopo and Qiantao.
Huaxi Park
Huaxi Park is near to Shilihetan (a precious city marsh in Guiyang). About 17 km south of Huaxi district, Huaxi Park was built in 1940, is a famous tourism place in Guizhou. It blends natural hills and rivers, garden scenery and ethnic customs. Scenic attractions of the park are centered on the four small and exquisite hills, and the most beautiful feature is the clear streams winding through hills and the flowers covering on that all four seasons of the year. It is one of three “the Pearls of Plateau” in Guizhou.
Tianhetan
Tianhetan Scenic Area is situated in the Shiban town, the distance to Guiyang 24 km. With an area of 15 square kilometers, Tianhetan is typical of exposed carbonatite land parcel. Entering the scenic area, a 210-meter-wide calcification waterfall in front of you, it is the widest calcification waterfall in China. Following is a river named Xiangba Gou. Grotesque limestone Caves is a big feature there. With waterfall pouring down overwhelmingly and splashing, it is very spectacular. Wolong Lake is links to calcification waterfall, a long stone bridges emerging in the pure lake water, and with green pillow and pink peach blossom ashore, like an imaginary ideal world.
Qingyan Ancient Town
Qingyan Town is an ancient town in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, and 29 km away from Guiyang. It is one of famous four ancient towns in Guizhou province. It was first built in 1378, and has a history of over 600 years. The town features its architectures in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1636-1911), such as temples, pavilions with carved beams and painted rafters etc, and it is praised as one of the most charming towns in China. The buildings in ancient town are backed on mountains, with an appropriate layout, exquisite stone carving and woodcarving; this is a town full of local color.
