Changfen, or called “Juan tong fen“, also been called as steamed vermicelli roll or Rice noddle roll in English, is one of the Nanning local popular snacks. Changfen is a kind of food made of rice, I have no idea who invent this, but I konw that it first appeared in the late Qing Dynasty. It is popular around Guangxi and Guangdong province, you can see it from 5-star hotel to small restaurant, all most every street in Nanning China. Local people like to eat it as breakfast.
How to make it
Changfen is made of rice. A cook put the rice-water into a stainless steel big dish, and steam the rice-water. In just a few moments, the rice-water will become a rice membrane. Then the cook will put some stuffing like meat, vegetable, beef or anything you want… then the cook will roll over the rice membrane to make it cover the stuffing, so a new Changfen is done. You can put it into your dish, and add some sauce, then you can eat!
