Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge was built in 1137. As the most pretty gallery bridge in China, Rainbow is well preserved, which is a combined scenic spot of culture and ecology, dynamic and static, leisure and entertainment. A total length of 140 meters and 3 meters wide, Rainbow Bridge, the oldest gallery bridge in China, consists of 11 corridors and stone tables in it. The scenery around is very attractive which can let a person deeply experience the beauty of Wuyuan, Nanchang City.

The Rainbow Bridge, 140 meters long, 7 meters wide, has a gallery pavilion with stone benches and stones tables on both sides of the corridor. Having a history of more than 800 years, Rainbow Bridge is surrounded by mountains with green water flowing under the bridge. Rainbow Bridge consists of five corridors and six pavilions, which is also called Gallery Pavilion Bridge.

The surface of Rainbow Bridge is made of wood, which is designed from the continuity of the bridge. The advantage of the bridge is that when the bridge is broken, people can use less money and less time to repair it. Considering the descendants will walk across the road, the bridge builder deliberately planed to make this bridge preserve till now. Although the bridge was built by ordinary carpenter, the embodiment of the art style is simple and thick.

Besides, the sense of historical accumulation is very strong. In order to be easily repair, every booth and corridor is independent, which can not affect the whole bridge because of one broken part. The cost of the dowels of Rainbow Bridge is low and the use of the dowels is convenient. Nails are not used as they are easily to rust. When people walk on the bridge, the bridge is easily to loose. However, the dowels can hardly make this situation. The Rainbow Bridge is made of four old pines. The wooden part is generally preserved for hundreds of years, so the Rainbow Bridge is repaired in each Dynasty. The recent repair was in 1985.
