Likeng Village

 12 kilometers away from Wuyuan County, Likeng Village is surrounded by mountains which are picturesque sceneries. The ancient buildings of Hui Style Architecture in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasty are throughout the village. The Li residential courtyards are built along the creek and the mountains. All of these forms a beautiful picture including bridge, flowing water and houses, which is a bright pearl. 29 opuses written by literati are handed up and very popular among the people at present.

Chukar Partridge

The food Chukar Partridge uses the special mushroom of Yellow Mountains and the chukar to steam at the same time. Mushroom, ranking the first in the nine mushroom, contains rich protein, fat, carbohydrates and vitamins, having the function to reduce blood pressure, cholesterol and anticancer.

Likeng Steamed Chicken

This dish is a traditional dish during the Spring Festival, which is soft and fresh. First, split the inner side along the legs and put it into the boiling water until the skin is taut and the foam rises. Then cover the meat with a layer of soy sauce and put it into soil till it matures not completely. Next, put the meat, onion, ginger, chestnut, sugar, wine, chicken soup into a big bowl to steam.

Dragon Dance

In order to be safe and get harvest next year, the people in Likeng Village will play dragon Dance around Mid Autumn Festival every year. The activity starts from the beginning of the village with a high prestige old man waving the dragon ball in front of the group and several men carrying the paper lantern. Sometimes it is high and sometime low. Dozens of red candles are lighting, which looks like a dragon from a distance. The owner of every house will burn the fireworks when the dragon comes, which prays the peace and happiness for their families. The dragon process will pass through every house.

Glutinous Rice Wine

Glutinous Rice Wine is the most mellow and enchanting with local delicious taste. The taste of the wine is very light. The people in Likeng Village use the bowl to drink the Glutinous Rice Wine. Drinking two or three bowls can not make people drunk. The Glutinous Rice Wine is a very simple wine. Even if the families in Likeng Village don’t drink wine, they will use the wine to entertain the guests. If the guests come, the rich dishes will lose their delicious taste without the Glutinous Rice Wine.
