Great Wall at Hushan, one of the eight Andong scenes, is the east end of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty and has a very beautiful environment. It is a great resort in the suburb of Dandong.

Located near the Yalu River 15 kilometers away from the east of Dandong City, Great Wall at Hushan is an important scenic spot. It was named Maershan because of the two side-by-side peaks like two upright ears of tiger. From Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Hushan had been a gate to fight against the enemies. Dandong was invaded several times and Hushan was the first place to suffer this. Because everyone who knows the military knowledge understands that occupying a high point means controlling the battle initiative.

Visiting Guide

The Great Wall resorted extends 1,250 meters with the Crossing Tower, Beacon Tower, War Machine and other things. After the restoration, Ming Great Wall winds to the north. The scenery here is beautiful and attractive. The Hushan along the river protrudes, which looks grotesque and jagged. Along the stairs to reach the summit of the Great Wall, you can appreciate the whole sceneries. Many-storied buildings and the Yalu Bridge appear in front of your eyes. Looking back at the north, the Danda Road goes around at the foot of the Hushan. The resorted Great Wall is like a pearl inlaid on the banks of the Yalu River, which becomes a tourist place in Yalu River Scenic Spot.

Hushan covers an area of 4 square kilometers and the main peak is 146.3 meters. The summit of the mountain is the first signal fire turret. Looking around in the platform, you can see the green water, rolling mountain and the boats shuttling the lake. All of these things are really a fairyland.

Great Wall History Museum

Great Wall History Museum, opened in 2003, is another place to introduce the function of Great Wall. The museum is divided into two layers which display the bricks of Ming Great Wall, potteries, large-scale oil paintings and Great Wall historical figure sculpture, which comprehensively display the image, status and role of the Great Wall in different times.

Two very large semi-scene paintings attract people’s attention. Using the sound, light, electricity and other means of science and technology, you can realistically see the scenes that people built the Great Wall in Qing Dynasty (221BC-206BC) and the Great Wall was captured when the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) collapsed.
