Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden

Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden is a large-scale theme park jointly built by Kaifeng Municipal People’s Government and Hainan Capital Land Group Corporation. It is situated on the west shore of the Longting Lake in Kaifeng city and modeled after the painting ‘Qingming Riverside Landscape’ by Zhang Zeduan, a famous painter in Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) of ancient China.

Covering an area of about 34 hectares, among which 8 hectares are covered with water, Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden exhibits the largest ancient complex of the Song Dynasty in the Central China. It is the true portraiture of the social customs of the ancient China. The garden was started to built in July 1992 and opened to the public on October 1998. As a famous tourist brand in China and the demonstration spot of civilized scenic spot all over the country, Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden attracts millions of tourists from all over the country every year.

Qingming Riverside Landscape

With a width of 24.8cm and a length of 528.7cm, Qingming Riverside Landscape is a masterpiece of Zhang Zeduan who is a famous painter in the Song Dynasty. More than 500 people, 60 cattle, 20 boats with different sizes, rooms, towers are portrayed in this scroll, which shows a prosperous scene of the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, the present Kaifeng. It is a national relic and now kept in the Palace Museum of Beijing.

Visiting Guide

As you step into the garden, you will be firstly welcomed by a giant relief with a length of 16 meters and a height of 3 meters. The whole scenic area is divided into two parts by the Shuangting Bridge, that is the south garden and the north garden. According to the Qingming Riverside Landscape, the garden are equiped with post, folk customer area, food street, culture exhibition area, shopping area, and service area eight parts.

Rainbow Bridge

As a replica of one of the ten ancient wooden bridges, Rainbow Bridge is the central part of the Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. It is 5 meters high and 10 meters wide and spans 25 meters, such design is rare to see in Song Dynasty. At the east of the Rainbow Bridge, you can see a giant sculpture of Zhang Zeduan, while, at the west of Rainbow Bridge, you can see many folk-custom performances.
