Located in Shuangzhong Town, Jiujiang City in Jiangxi Province, Stone Bell Hill looks like an exquisite natural beauty and was listed as a world culture landscape by the United Nations.

With an altitude of 61.8 meters, a relatively height of 40 meters and an area of 0.2 square kilometers, Stone Bell Hill is situated at the outlet of Poyang lake. Stone Bell Hill has two parts: the Lower Stone Bell Hill, facing the Yangtze River on its northern side and the Upper Stone Bell Hill, facing the Poyang Lake on its southern side. It is said that the hills are shaped like two huge bells and the rocks here, when struck, rings like a bell, therefore, it was called Stone Bell Hill.

Stone Bell Hill is a holy place for Confucian intellectuals, and a place of great strategic importance. Many historical events and battles occurred here for all ages. Such as the troop Zhouyu in There Kingdom Period (220-265) sent from here, the war between Zhu Yuanzhang (first emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644)) and Chen Youliang, (a general of the late Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368), and the ten-year war fought between Zeng Guofan (a famous general of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and Shi Dakai (a general of the Taiping Army). Although many war happened here and left many trauma for Stone Bell Hill, many heroic deeds left too.

Calligraphy Masterpieces

The stone inscriptions here are fine and exquisite. Although weathered in the rain and wind for centuries and damaged by the war, more than 200 stone inscriptions are preserved well, including the “qing weng fang gang” by Wei Zheng in Tang Dynasty (618-907), “ Gu xiandong by Wang Anshi in Song Dynasty (960-1279).

With chic appearance, mysterious sounds, splendid color, Stone Bell Hill is a charming place. The most mysterious and the most attractive thing about Stone Bell Hill is the sound visitors can hear on the mountain. There are many caves and stone gaps on the hill, and just because of those caves and hole that enabled the bell sound created. As for the rare phenomenon, Stone Bell Hill attracts millions of tourists at home and abroad every year.
