Huangshan, Huizhou as its old name, is a famous city in the south of Anhui Province. It is the cradle place of “Huizhou Merchants” and Hui culture. No.1 Yellow Mountains

Yellow Mountains is praised as “No.1 Wonder Mountain under Heaven”, and Huangshan City gains the name after it. It is one of the famous ten scenic areas in China, but it is the only mountain scenic area of them. Moreover, Yellow Mountain is the first scenic area in the world to get the great names of World Nature and Culture Heritage, and World Geopark simultaneously. Yellow Mountain mixes beautiful sceneries of China’s famous mountains into one, and especially, fantastic pines, grotesque rocks, cloud sea, hot spring and winter snow are five best views.

No.2 Tunxi Ancient Street

Embedded in the verdant mountain and green water, Tunxi Ancient Street is the best-preserved walking business street in Song (960-1279), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing(1644-1911) architecture styles. With a history of hundred years, an 832-meter-long ancient street gathers tea houses, taverns and kinds of characteristic shops to attract tourists for sightseeing or shopping, and it is reputed as a movable Riverside Scene of Qingming (a famous Chinese painting from Northern Song Dynasty).

No.3 Shexian

With a history over 2,200 years, Shexian is one of the best-preserved four ancient towns in China, and is the birthplace of Huizhou culture and Beijing Opera (China’s national quintessence), main cradle place of Huizhou Merchant, and the main production place of Hui ink and She ink slab of China’s Four Treasures for Study. The ancient town has elegant layout, garden, ancient pavilion, stone archway, ancient tower are everywhere, which is like a grand historical museum.

Historical Site

Xidi Village and Hongcun Village in Yixian County are listed as World Culture Heritage for their well-preserved traditional feature, quiet rurality, exquisite workmanship on Huizhou folk house and rich historical culture. Both of them first built in Southern Song Dynasty (960-1127), the ancient architectures are almost remains from Ming and Qing dynasties, which are representatives of folk house in southern Anhui Province.

Tangyue Archway is one of the historical sites in Shexian Ancient Town. It is consisted of seven memorial archways standing in line, three from Ming Dynasty and four from Qing Dynasty, which are the masterpieces of ancient architecture art.

Natural Scenery

Qiyun Mountain is one of the three famous mountains in southern Anhui, and one of the known four Taoist mountains in China. It features Taoist culture and Danxia landform, and the natural landscape is more highlighted.

Historical and Cultural Place

As one of the birthplaces of “Huizhou Merchant” and “Huizhou Culture”, Yixian County was founded in 221 B.C. which is one of the oldest counties in China. It keeps a lot of Ming and Qing ancient folk houses, memorial archways, memorial halls and gardens, furthermore, World Culture Heritage- Xidi Village and Hongcun Village are located there, and it is the epitome of Chinese traditional culture. Chizhou is viewed as “Back Garden” of Yangtze River Delta generally, and it is the ideal leisure tourist place. The famous Mt.Jiuhuashan- one of the famous four Buddhist Mountains in China is located here.

Mt.Jiuhuashan: it is one of the famous four Buddhist Mountains in China, a noted sightseeing and summer resort. It merges with natural and humanity landscapes, many natural wonders like sunrise and sunset, Cloud Sea, mist-wrapped pines, snow sleet and Brocken Spectre. Everything is charming to the eye. It is in Chizhou City, about 150 km or about 2hour driving.

Jingdezhen: World’s Ceramics City. It has a history of more than 1,000 year to make ceramics, and here you can learn all things about ceramic, see ancient porcelain kilns, appreciate the whole process to hand-make a porcelain ware, and learn great history of ceramics. It needs about 2.5 hours driving (about 200 km) from Huangshan City.

Wuyuan: although in Jiangxi Province, it was a part of ancient Huizhou (Huangshan now), and one of the birthplaces of Huizhou culture. It is called “Most Beautiful Village in China”, and World Natural Heritage- Sanqing Mountain is within it. It sits between Jingdezhen and Huangshan, about 100 km from Huangshan (1.5 hours driving).
