Nong'an County, a time-honored place with a history of 2,000 years, was the capital of late Fuyu State in 346 A.D. The tower enjoys high value of studying on the religious development and the architecture style of Liao Dynasty (907-1125).
Nong’an Liao Tower is also where the famous Huanglong Prefecture placed, which was the political, military and economic center of Liao and Jin dynasties. As a result, Nong’an County enjoy high prosperity during those times, leaving many historical relics. Nong'an Liao Tower is the most typical one.
Located at the west door of Nong'an County, the ancient tower is also called the Buddha Tower, the Liao Tower, and the gold tower. Built from 983AD to 1030AD, the tower was the construction masterpiece of the local people in 10th century.
The white tower is made of stick and wood with solid formed eight angles and 13 floors. With a height of 44 meters, the tower can be divided into three parts: the base part, the body part and the tops part. On every angle of each floor there are dragons, horses and lions with a four- angled Aeolian bell. At the tenth storey, two bronze Buddha statues and other Buddhist articles were found in a small brick room. All in all, the tower enjoys high value of studying on the religious development and the architecture style of Liao Dynasty.
