Harbin Transportation
Harbin enjoys an ideal geographic location and is convenient by all means of transportation to and from the city. It’s worth mentioning that Harbin is only two hours from Beijing by air, or eight hours by bullet train. What's more, it is one of China's gateways into Siberia, Russia and northeast Asia, so Harbin is developed to a major international transportation and business hub for China, Korea, Russia and Japan.

There are several types of taxis with diffrent costs. Usually, the flag fall for a Xiali taxi is 7 RMB for the first three kilometers (about 1.86 miles) and then 1.6 RMB for every additional kilometer. A Chery taxi costs 7 RMB for the first three kilometers and 1.9 RMB for every additional kilometer.
Harbin Taiping International Airport
Harbin Taiping International Airport is about 35 kilometers southwest of the central old sector of Harbin where there are the major tourist highlights. It is the second largest international airport in northeast China. The airport operates flights to/from big and medium cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Dalian, Xi'an, etc. The flight between Beijing and Harbin takes less than two hours.
Airport Shuttle Bus
There are shuttle buses and taxis available from the airport to central Harbin. Airport shuttle buses cost 20 RMB to ride, and taxis are about CNY130. A taxi ride from the airport takes about 45 minutes or an hour.

City Bus
The public traffic system in Harbin city is well developed, with over 100 bus routes connecting nearly all parts of the city. There are two special tourist routes running pass scenic spots. One departs from Flood Control Monument and ends at Sun Island Scenic Spot. The other passes several tourist spots in city center. Cost for a public bus ticket is CNY1-2 per ticket.
Long-distance Bus
Nangang Bus Station serves most of the bus routes covering the rest of Heilongjiang Province. Destinations available via the inter-provincial long-distance bus services are Shenyang and Changchun. There is one long-distance bus from Harbin (China) to Vladivostok (Russia). Leaving at 07:00am every day, it takes about 12 hours from Harbin to Vladivostok. Tourists need to pay 500 yuan for a ticket, and passports are needed when they get on the bus.
As a railway transportation hub in Northeast China, Harbin is easily accessible and connected by train from most major cities in China. There is also a bullet train system operating between Harbin and Beijing. Bullet trains leave Beijing for Harbin each day, and the trip takes about 8 hours.
Harbin has two train stations. One is the Harbin Railway Station, and the other is the Harbin East Railway Station. They are both in almost the city center.
The Port of Harbin is listed as one of the eight important inland harbors of China. However, ships only can reach some parts of northeast China from April through to the early November. To go to Sun Island Park area, Siberian Tiger Park, Ice Lantern Festival and Grand World of Ice and Snow, visitors can take a ferry. Everyday from 5:00 to 17:00, there are 3 ferries go from docks at Jiuzhan, Tongjiang Street and Flood Control Monument to Sun Island. A single ferry ride takes about half an hour.
