Gyangtze Old Town, 90 kilometers away from Shigatse, lies in the upper area of Nianchu River. Banjuelunbu Village 4 kilometers away from Gyangtze keeps the only complete feudal lord Manor Pala Manor which helps people recognize the feudal serfdom in old Tibet. Gyangtze Old Town is a national historical and cultural city with many cultural relics, having high value of tourism. In 1904, the British invaded here and the local people resisted, so Gyangtze Old Town had the title of Hero City in the history.

Pala Manor

Pala Manor, listed as the Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, is the main manor of the noble Pala family in Tibet and is the only well-preserved three barons’ manors in the old Tibet. Pala Manor is the true portrayal of life between old Tibet aristocracy and the serfs. Besides, as a well-preserved manor in the old Tibet, Pala Manor is a good place to research the politics, economy and culture of Tibet.

Palgor Chorten

Palgor Chorten is a famous temple with two main characteristics. One is the temple containing three religious sects. Another unique feature is the symbol of Palgor Chorten—Bodhi Pagoda with about 100 sequentially overlapped towers. The Buddhas, Buddha murals and the family halls for worshipping the Buddha add up to one hundred thousand. Hence, it is named Shiwan Buddha Pagoda.

Gyangtze Dzong Fortress

Located in Zong Mountain in Gyangtze County, Gyangtze Dzong Fortress was a heroic place for Tibet people to fight the invading British. So in 1961, the State Council promulgated that this place was listed into the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. The four stone steles in the era of Qian Long (1736-1796) have been well preserved, so Gyangtze Dzong Fortress also has the important value of cultural relics.
