Nanhua Miao Village

 Situated in the upstream bank of the Bala River, Nanhua Miao Village is built along the mountains. With beautiful natural scenery, simple folk and rich national customers of Miao people, Nanhua Miao Village is an outstanding newly opened up scenic spots in Kaili. It is praised as a typical natural museum of the farming cultural of Miao People along the Bala River.

Nanhua Village is a Miao village with full-bodied customer and beautiful natural scenery. The whole village consists of 4 villager groups, 187 households and 824 people. The forest volume here are about 700 cubic meters and the forest coverage rate is about 83.2%. With euphonic Miao people, unique Lusheng dance, beautiful and decent Miao girl and antique Diaojiaolou, Nanhua Village attracts many tourists at home and abroad.

Nanhua Bridge

Nanhua Bridge is a traffic artery to the Nanhua Miao Village and the rest place for the people here. The bridge is paved with cedar and the top of the bridge is covered with gray tiles. The whole building is connected by the tenon instead of the nails and rivets. Unique in layout and exquisite in design, the bridge is a perfect combination of construction and folk culture of Miao people.

Diaojiulou

The civilian residences in the village are all wood-constructed Diaojiaolou, which is high above the ground. There are usually 3 floors in the Diaojiaolou and each of them is supported by several wooden pillars. The first floor functions as shelter for the fowls and the upper floor functions as storehouse and the middle as the living house. The buildings are scattered tier upon tier and soaring one greater than one more and set off in the green forest.

The Costume of Miao Girl

The clothes of Miao girl are featured as the long skirts, commonly known as the “Long Skirt Miao”. The pleated skirt is as long as 80cm. Usually they are decorated with silver horn and the longest silver horn can reach as long as 100cm, which forms a strong contrast with the colorful and exquisite designed clothes. It leaves person a striking visual impact and commit to people’s memory. The embroidery patterns include auspicious dragon, phoenix, flowers and birds. In a sense, these patterns are a living history impressed on the dress and reflect the general situation of the social development in one side. A dress is a history book, therefore, the clothes are praised as the wordless history book putting on the body.

Cate

Ciba is a kind of sticky rice cake, which symbolizes good harvest, reunion and good luck. Miao people make Ciba before the Chinese lunar New Year with a bless of the good luck to all the members of the family, a good harvest to the crap and the wish of the family come together with a lot of fun and happiness.

Whenever festival or the honored guests comes, all the villagers in Nanhua Miao Village will gather in the Lusheng Hall to dance. All the girls are dressed meticulously, singing and dancing with the guest. The guests dance with the people at all ages hand in hand and construct a warm atmosphere. The hospitality makes the guest experience the colorful folk culture better and leaves them unforgettable impression.
