Locate in Jilin Province and on the border between China and North Korea, Mt. Changbaishan is the highest mountain in northeast and viewed as the ridge of northeast.

Covering an area of more than 200,000 hectares, extends 78.5 kilometers north to south and 53.3 kilometers west to east, Mt. Changbaishan is the largest nature reserve in China and is home to many world famous precious animals like northeast tigers, snow leopards, sikas, sables, etc. It is located in Antu County of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province is covered with snow all the year round because its latitude and altitude. “Changbai” means perpetually white in Chinese, therefore it was called Mt. Changbaishan. It was listed as a natural reserve by UNESCO in 1979.

As a dormant volcano, Mt. Changbaishan has been erupted several times in the history and formed unique and spectacular landform landscape. When you step into the Mt. Changbaishan, it is like you are in a fairyland. Heaven Lake, waterfalls, hot spring, canyon, underground forest, volcanic lava forest, cloud, mist and snow together formed a beautiful charming scenery line. Endowed with such rich and unique resources, Mt. Changbaishan is a pleasant tourist resort, which attracts millions of travelers at home and abroad every year.

Heaven Lake

Heaven Lake is the most famous scenic spot on Mt. Changbaishan and it should not be missed when traveling there. It lies in the volcanic crate at the main peak of the Mt. Changbaishan. The lake's water surface is 2,189 meters above sea level, the highest of its kind in China, hence its name. In the shape of a lotus leaf, Heaven Lake served as a natural reservoir. Surrounded by the 16 peaks of Mt. Changbaishan, Heaven Lake is crystal clear and looks like a piece of jade, which leaves person a kind of mysterious feeling.

Underground Forest

Underground Forest, also known as the Crater Forest, is a scenic area with the lowest altitude in Mt. Changbaishan. Ancient tall trees, huge rocks, precious herbs are gathered here. You can see sikas, wild boar black bear drinking water in the stream occasionally.

The Changbai Waterfall

With high altitude, steep slopes and abundant water resources, Mt. Changbaishan has many lakes and waterfalls, among which the Changbai Waterfall is the largest and the most famous. It is about 1,250 meters below Heaven Lake and created by a sudden fall in terrain. It is splinted into by a mammoth rock at the upper ledge and likes two jade dragons jumping on the beach with a thunderous roar and splashing several meters high foam in the sky. What a spectacular view!

The Hot Springs

Not far from the grand Changbai Waterfall, there is a group of hot springs covering an area of over 1,000 square meters. The springs vary in temperature, with the hottest reaching 82℃. With hydrogen sulfide and enormous health care value, The Hot Springs is endowed with a fame “the first bath in the world”. It is extremely charming in winter with the snow white mountain around and a hot spring inside.

As a natural ecological barrier of the northeast and the main climate adjustment area, Mt. Changbaishan has a very precious value in the study and the protection of the environment.
