Been regarded as the thoroughfare in Sichuan province and the pivot to the Capital, Guanghan is only 23km away from Chengdu proper to its south and 18km away from Deyang City proper to its north. The flat land, the mild climate, the interweaving rivers, the fertile land, the appealing city appearance, and the picturesque scenery, all these win Guanghan the name of The Backyard Garden of Chengdu.

 

Attractions


Almost every visitor come for a visit to the Sanxingdui  Ruins, the site of the ancient Shu capital will be rewarding. Centered on Sichuan’s Yangtze River valley more than 4,000 years ago, Sanxingdui holds the largest surviving ruins of the Shu Kingdom. Since the discovery of the ruins, more than 10,000 relics including bronze, gold, jade and marble artifacts, pottery, bone tools and ivory objects have been uncovered. Sanxingdui Archaeological Ruins and Museum reveals to us an ancient civilization with long history and richest culture in Sichuan. Apart from this century masterpiece, there are parks and temples with strong folk contents, such as Duan Countyyard Fanghu Park, Banyan Garden, Longju Temple, Dongchan Temple.

 

Transportation


By air: Shuangliu International Airport is 18miles away from Guanghan, there are buses to Zhaojuesi Bus Station (RMB8).

By train: due to the Bao-Cheng Railway, it is very convenient to Guanghan.

By bus: the national highway108 runs through the whole Guanghan. Chengdu Zhaojue bus station has bus from Chengdu to Guanghan, the fare is RMB10. Take line6 to visit Sanxingdui Museum (1.5 yuan).

 

Weather and Climate


Bordered by the Tibetan Plateau in the west and by the Three Gorges and the Yangtze River in the east, Guanghan enjoys a typical basin climate.

 

Food
 


Same with the Sichuan Cuisine, it is hot and spicy.

Typical specialties include: Jinsimian---Golden Noodles; Sanheni---Three Material Muds; Steamed Dumplings, etc. which you can enjoy in the snack street at Zitong Jie and Huashi Jie.

Bao Bao Festival

Celebrated at 16th Jan. in Chinese lunar calendar, Bao Bao Festival is evolved from the custom of traditional folk customs "You sickness" and pull "Bao Bao" to avoid illnesses for babies.
