Bo’ao is a small town lies on the east coast of Hainan facing the South China Sea to its east. Formerly just a fishing village, it has been catapulted into the limelight in recent years as the seat of the Bo’ao Forum for Asia, one of China's first (so-called) non-governmental organizations that has been billed as Asia's answer to Davos.
History
According to records, the name Bo’ao first comes from Ming Dynasty, means the hope of abundant fishes in the sea. In history, Bo’ao was a small fishing village, most locals here are immigrants from other areas. Now, as the place where permanent site of Asia Forum is located, Bo’ao covers an area of 31 square kilometers with a total population of ten thousands.

Bo’ao tourism is composed of human landscapes and natural scenery. Main attractions here are Bo'ao Forum Site, Jade Belt Beach, Xisha Aquarium of Bo’ao, Dongyu Island Hot Spring of Bo’ao, BFA Permanent Venue, Wanquan River, etc.
The Bo’ao Water Town of today has become not only a major tourist destination, but also the regular Chinese location for the International Convention Organization Headquarter in Asia. Jade Belt Beach is listed in the Guiness record as a long golden jade belt beach separates the river and the sea, forming the narrowest beach peninsula in the world.
Transportation
Passengers can reach Haikou first, and taking bus to Qionghai in Haikou South Bus Station, then transfer buses or taxis to Bo’ao. Another option is taking bullet trains in Haikou High-Speed Railway Station and get off at Bo’ao Station.

Climate
Although located in tropical moist monsoonal climate, Bo’ao enjoys a fine weather with one of the coolest summers in Hainan Province. It is an ideal tourist destination with an annual average temperature of 24.1��.
