Then head for the Wuhouci Temple, which was built to commemorate Liu Bei, Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu in the Three Kingdoms period (220 - 280), and Zhuge Liang, Prime Minister of the Kingdom. It is recognized as one of the most important sites of ancient Shu culture. The Wuhou Temple was listed as a national historical site by the government in 1961.

Visit the Du Fu Cottage in the west suburbs of the city. The famous poet Du Fu of Tang Dynasty built himself a thatch hut and wrote a lot of poems here. Embellished with ponds, terrace, pavilions, the cottage looks dignified and solemn, elegant and tranquil, beautiful and bright with a strong cultural flavor.
    Day 2 Chengdu>>Dujiangyan>>Chengdu
Head for the Dujiangyan, a miraculous irrigation system. Constructed in 256 B.C. under the leadership of Governor Li Bing, the Dujiangyan irrigation system was the world's oldest and the only dam-less project that is still functioning, distributing waters of the Min River to the farmland of the Chengdu Plain, supporting a population over 10 million today.

On the way to Mt. Qingcheng, we will have a cruise (cruise ticket and round trip cable car included) on the Lake Yuecheng. Being a fairyland far away from the hustle and bustle of city, it has become very popular among tourists from home and abroad.

Then go up to the moutain by a cable car, and we will explore Mt. Qingcheng (Green Town in Chinese) from the front gate. It is one of the ancient cradles of Taoism. The mountain has numerous Taoist temples and sites along the paths to its peak. The area is green all year round and is known for its secluded tranquility. Later go down the mountain by a cable car.

Drive back to Chengdu in the afternoon.
After breakfast, we will head for Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, one of the important centers in China for the captive conservation of giant pandas. The natural scenery and man-made landscapes combine harmoniously and create wonderful and humane living areas for the giant pandas and other Chinese endangered animals.

    Drive to Guanghan.

Go to Sanxingdui Ruins, a modern theme museum which is 40 kilometers to the north of Chengdu. The cultural relics at Sanxingdui are precious cultural heritage of mankind, which contain rich historical, cultural and scientific value, and bespeak themselves as the most attractive ones amongst the multitude of the spectacular relics in China. Later, drive back to Chengdu.

Floundered Q: Chengdu has heavy rainfall in July. Do I need to take raincoat or umbrella? If it rains does it mean we will not be able to carry on with the plans?? 2012.5.7

A: I suggest you buy raincoat or umbrella in China, which are all cheap and convenient. Usually the travel plan wonโ€™t be affected by rainfall.

CherasLawrence Q: Hi, I was wondering if it's worthwhile or possible to do a day trip to Qingcheng Shan from Chengdu? We are hoping to be able to return to Chengdu at night. Any advice would be much appreciated! 2011.9.24

A: It's possible to make a day trip to Qingchengshan from Chengdu, since it only takes about 45 minutes by bullet train from Chengdu to Qingchengshan. There are also tourism buses from Chengdu railway station Square to Dujiangyang City, taking sbout 45 minutes. Then you can take bus no. 101 to qingchengshan directly for about 20 minutes.

ManagerFreestyle Q: How to go to Mt Qingcheng from Chengdu? Is there any buses or trains available? 2011.6.7

A: You can go to Chazidian Bus Station to take the bus to reach Dujiangyan Bus Station. The coach's price is about 16.5 and cost you about 50 minutes to reach. Then you can take the local city bus to get there.

lauranada Q: After taking the cable up the mountain, what was there in that area? The after you continue up the hill, there were 2 more important structures. Which ones were those. I remember having the men carry people up the hill. Also, what were all the locks on the wires called? It was for never ending love? Thanks!!! 2011.1.13

A: There are many locks beside the parth to Laojun Ge (่€ๅ›้˜), and they are the lover' s lock or lock to make wishes.
