Yarlung Zangbo Canyon is the deepest canyon in the world with 9 vertical natural belts from alpine ice and snow area to the low valley of tropical seasonal rainforest.
Yarlung Zangbo Canyon, 504.6 kilometers long, is the first deepest canyon in the world with an average depth of 2,268 meters and the deepest depth of 6,009 meters. Because of the strong contrast, Yarlung Zangbo Canyon has a grand landscape. This canyon is the largest water vapor channel on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is influenced by India Ocean warm-moist air flow. The whole canyon is very moist with the dense forests, forming the most abundant biodiversity canyon in the world. Yarlung Zangbo Canyon not only is listed at the top among the canyons in the world, but also attracts the scientists’ attention because of the scientific connotation and valuable resources.
How the canyon formed
The natural gas passage makes the warm-moist air form the first biggest precipitation zone in the southeast region of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which accumulates enormous hydropower resources. This natural gas passage reduces the obvious differences between the natural belt of south and north areas. The gas passage promotes the plant distribution of many tropical plants and animals northwards, which also provides safe haven to many species. The vertical natural zone with complete integrity from high to low is just like the sceneries from the pole to the equator or from the northeastern China to Hainan Island.

Yarlung Zangbo Canyon is very high with two peaks on both sides directly going into the clouds. The canyon is also magnificent because of running among the steep mountains. Deep and moist are another two features of the canyon. Long, dangerous and odd features definitely belong to Yarlung Zangbo Canyon with the unique horseshoe big round. The last feature is beautiful with various attractive sceneries.
Travel Tips
The best time to visit here is from May to October. The peach blossom is in riotous profusion and the cuckoo flowers grow among the glacier mountain. The rape flowers cover the golden to the mountains. So that from April to June is the time to enjoy the flowers in Tibet. And the best time for going hiking along the Yarlung Zangbo Canyon is from July to October. There are two ways to step into Yarlung Zangbo Canyon to appreciate the charming sceneries in here, such as the Snow Mountain, Benzene Mountain, Qujiaowu Temple, the Pine Greeting Guests and other natural and cultural wonders.
